Install ZenithAI on your server

Installing ZenithAI is a joint job: your IT team prepares the server, and the ZenithAI installer sets up the application. This page tells you what to expect.

  • A server that meets the hardware minimum, running Rocky Linux 10.
  • Administrator (root) access on that server for the installation.
  • A PostgreSQL database server.
  • nginx as the web server, and a TLS certificate for your ZenithAI address.
  • The AI model components that come with ZenithAI. The ZenithAI team sets these up with you before the application is installed.
  • The email address of your first administrator.
  1. Checks first. It confirms everything it needs is in place and stops before changing anything if a check fails, telling you what is missing.
  2. Installs on a clean server only. It refuses to write over an existing installation.
  3. Sets up the application so that it listens only inside the server. Nobody can reach it except through your web server.
  4. Writes the web server settings for HTTPS (TLS 1.2 and 1.3), with plain HTTP sent on to HTTPS. Uploads of up to 1 GB are allowed. Your IT team adds the certificate.

The first administrator signs in with the email given during installation and sets their password. This also starts the 30-day free trial. From there, the administrator creates everyone else’s accounts; see Users and admin.

Check Who can call it What it tells you
/ping Anyone, no sign-in The application is up
/health Signed-in users or API keys The application can reach its AI models
/health/models?probe=1 Signed-in users or API keys The models are loaded and ready (HTTP 503 if not)
Terminal window
curl --fail-with-body "https://dummydomain/ping"

Back up three things regularly, to a different machine: the application data folder, the settings folder, and the PostgreSQL database.

Common questions

Can the ZenithAI installer upgrade an existing installation?

No. The installer is for a fresh, clean server and refuses to run over an existing installation. Talk to the ZenithAI team before you plan an upgrade.

How do I check that ZenithAI is running?

Open your server address followed by /ping. It answers without sign-in and shows that the application is up. The detailed health checks at /health need you to be signed in or to use an API key.

Which database does ZenithAI use?

ZenithAI keeps its data in a PostgreSQL database on your server. Include the database in your regular backups along with the application's data and settings folders.
