Automation, news alerts in plain words
Automation keeps an eye on the news for you. You tell it in plain words what to watch, such as Tell me when Infosys announces results or a dividend, and it sets up a watch on the right news feeds. Your organisation’s ZenithAI server checks those feeds every 5 minutes, also while the page is closed, and saves an alert with a link for every new story that matches.
Automation is one of the ZenithAI Agents. Open Agents in the top bar and choose Automation under Research.
What you can watch
Section titled “What you can watch”Automation is good for news you would otherwise check by hand every day:
| Example request | Feeds it is likely to choose |
|---|---|
| Tell me when Infosys announces results or a dividend | Business and market news, and official NSE corporate announcements |
| Alert me about new RBI rules on digital lending | Business and economy news that mentions RBI and digital lending |
| Let me know when India wins a cricket match | Cricket and sports news |
| Watch for news about artificial intelligence in healthcare | Technology and artificial intelligence news |
| Tell me when an Indian film wins an international award | Film and awards coverage |
Automation watches news feeds only. It does not search the web, watch prices, trade, send SMS or e-mail, or run scripts. It matches the words of the rule, so it does not know synonyms: if a story could use two names for the same thing, say both.
Create an automation
Section titled “Create an automation”- Open Agents, then Automation. Under What should I watch?, type what matters to you in your own words, for example Tell me when Infosys announces results or a dividend. Press Send, or Ctrl+Enter.
- If something is missing, such as which company, team, award or market you mean, Automation asks one short question. Answer it in the same box.
- Automation shows a Proposal · not created yet card. Read it. It lists:
- Must include: words every matching story must have.
- Any of: at least one of these words must appear too.
- Leave out: stories with these words are skipped.
- Company, for a listed company, with its exchange and ticker, for example NSE: INFY.
- Sources: the feeds it will check, up to 5.
- Checked every 5 minutes.
- Want a change? Type it below the proposal, for example also include buyback or leave out US news, and Automation updates the proposal.
- Click Create automation. Nothing is created before you click it.
You see Created. I will check the feeds in the background, also when this page is closed. To add another, click New automation.
How a check works
Section titled “How a check works”Every 5 minutes the server reads the watch’s feeds and compares each new story’s headline and summary with your rule:
- every Must include phrase is there,
- at least one Any of phrase is there, and
- no Leave out phrase is there.
Matching ignores capital letters and looks for whole words and phrases. No AI model reads the news: the model is used only to turn your words into the rule while you set it up. That is why every alert can be traced to the words that matched.
Alerts
Section titled “Alerts”Every match is saved under Alerts, newest first. Each alert shows the story’s headline as a link, which opens the story on the publisher’s site in a new tab, and a line with the automation’s name, the feed and the date. Click Show older alerts to see more.
Desktop alerts in Chrome
Section titled “Desktop alerts in Chrome”- Click Turn on desktop alerts.
- Chrome asks whether to allow notifications. Click Allow.
- The button now says Desktop alerts on. While the Automation page is open in a tab, each new match pops up as Automation found a match.
Closing the page does not stop the checks. Matches found while it is closed are waiting in Alerts when you come back. Desktop alerts need Chrome and a secure (https) page. If they are blocked, allow notifications for your ZenithAI address in Chrome’s site settings; alerts are still saved in the list either way.
Pause, resume and delete
Section titled “Pause, resume and delete”Your watches are listed under Your automations, with a count such as 2 active · 3 total. Each row shows its status, such as Active, last checked with the time, or Paused, and has three buttons:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Details | Shows the rule, the feeds and each publisher’s terms of use |
| Pause / Resume | Stops or restarts the checks. Stories published while it was paused are not alerted |
| Delete | Deletes the automation with its alerts and history, after you confirm. This can’t be undone |
If an administrator pauses your account, your automations pause too and resume by themselves when your account is active again.
The news feeds
Section titled “The news feeds”Automation chooses from a fixed list of 30 feeds. You don’t need to pick them; you can see the chosen ones in the proposal and under Details.
| Publisher | Sections |
|---|---|
| Indian Express | India, World, Business, Economy, Technology, Artificial intelligence, Jobs, Science, Sports, Cricket, Football, Entertainment and awards, Companies, Stock market news |
| The Guardian | World, Business, Technology, Sport, Film and awards, China, Japan, Canada, France |
| BBC News | Headlines |
| CNBC | US and global markets, Asia markets, Europe markets |
| Official sources | NSE India corporate announcements, plus other official filings feeds where your administrator has set them up |
For companies, Automation knows the main exchanges in India (NSE, BSE), the US (NYSE, NASDAQ), the UK, Canada, France, Japan and China.
Your data
Section titled “Your data”- Your watches, alerts and setup chats are stored on your organisation’s own ZenithAI server, in your own space.
- The only outside connections are to the feeds in the list above, over https. No address ever comes from your words or from the model, so Automation can’t be made to open another website.
- Setting up a watch uses the Fast model on your own server. The news text is never sent to a model.
- Alerts are kept for 90 days, at most the newest 2,000. Setup chats are kept for 7 days.

Common questions
What does the ZenithAI Automation agent do?
Automation watches news feeds for you. You say in plain words what matters, for example when a company announces results or a dividend, and it sets up a watch. The server checks the feeds every 5 minutes, also when the page is closed, and saves an alert with a link for every new matching story.
Which news sources can Automation watch?
A fixed list of 30 feeds, including Indian Express, The Guardian, BBC News and CNBC sections on India, the world, business, markets, technology, sport and more, plus official NSE India corporate announcements. Automation chooses up to 5 feeds for each watch. It does not search the web or open other websites.
Does Automation use AI to read the news?
Only to set up a watch. While you describe what to watch, the Fast model turns your words into a rule and picks the feeds. The checks themselves are a plain word match on each story's headline and summary, so no news text is sent to a model and every alert can be explained.
Will I get a notification on my computer?
Yes, while the Automation page is open in Chrome and you have clicked Turn on desktop alerts and allowed it. When the page is closed, checks still run on the server and every match is saved in the Alerts list, so you see it next time you open the page.
Why didn't I get an alert for a story that was already in the news?
The first check of a new watch only notes the stories already in the feeds, so you are not flooded with old news. From then on, every new matching story is alerted. The same happens when you resume a paused watch: stories from the paused time are skipped.
How many automations can I have?
Up to 20 running at the same time, and up to 40 kept in total, including paused ones. Each watch can use up to 5 feeds. Alerts are kept for 90 days, at most the newest 2,000 per person.
Is my Automation data private?
Yes. Your watches, alerts and setup chat are stored on your organisation's own ZenithAI server, in your own space. The only outside connections are to the news feeds in the list. No feed address ever comes from your words or from the model.
